Medical emergency onboard and no one was ready at the gate

On AA 1460 from SAN to DFW tonight and just need to vent.

About an hour before landing, the FAs asked if there was any medical personnel onboard for a passenger in first class. Clearly something serious enough to warrant the call.

We land in Dallas and pull into the gate at 8:16pm. Everyone stays seated, waiting. And waiting. It’s now 8:33pm before paramedics finally arrive on the aircraft.

I’m honestly shocked by the lack of urgency. If there was a known medical situation well before landing, how were EMS not already there waiting at the gate? Those minutes matter.

Maybe there’s more going on behind the scenes, but from a passenger perspective it felt incredibly unprepared.
