Just a heads up for anyone planning to use their Amex Platinum Uber credit for Uber One. Even if you have your Platinum card selected at checkout, Uber defaults to using your Uber Cash balance first. If you don’t manually toggle it off, your membership gets paid with Uber Cash instead of your card which means it won’t trigger the Amex credit.
If you already made this mistake, you can cancel the membership in the Uber app and then request a refund through the automated chat. Refunds usually process immediately, but it’s easier to just switch off the Uber Cash toggle before paying.
Also worth noting: both monthly and annual Uber One memberships are eligible for the Amex Platinum credit. So you can go either route, just make sure the charge actually hits your Platinum card to get reimbursed.
