Switched to an earlier flight to beat the East Coast weather. Connected through ORD. First leg delayed, long taxi, then we get told we were “on the wrong line” and had to wait before deplaning. A bunch of us had tight connections.
Ran 20 minutes to the next gate. Got there and the door was still open. Someone from the jetway even called up asking if they could close it.
Gate agent refused to let me on. Said she’s required to close the door 10 minutes before departure. Wouldn’t explain further. Plane didn’t move for a while after that while I was getting rebooked.
I understand policies and on-time departures. Just frustrating to see the door open and still be told no.
