A traveler shared their perspective on moving away from traditional all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Having grown up in the Dominican Republic, they feel that staying at all-inclusive resorts doesn’t fully reflect the local culture or provide an authentic experience of the country.
Instead, they have been helping others plan private villa stays as an alternative. These villa experiences often include amenities such as a private pool, in-house chef preparing local Dominican cuisine, and a more private, customized environment without resort restrictions like wristbands or buffet lines.
They noted that, for a group of six, a villa stay can sometimes cost less per person than a 5-star all-inclusive resort while offering a more personalized and culturally immersive experience. They’ve since continued assisting others with similar villa-based travel arrangements and are offering to share insights on neighborhoods, budgeting, and group planning options.
