Really stuck here and hoping someone has dealt with this before.
I originally had an outbound on Dec 7 and return Jan 1. The outbound had three connections and the last leg got cancelled, which showed up in the Lufthansa app.
On Dec 4 I called Lufthansa and the agent offered to rebook me on different dates. I moved the trip to Dec 20 with a Jan 15 return. No mention of any fare difference at the time.
Now, about 10 days after the rebooking and just 3 days before the new departure, Lufthansa is saying I have to pay a large fare difference or I can’t travel at all.
This was all triggered by their cancellation, not something I changed on my own. I was trying to see family for the holidays and I won’t be able to go again for years, so this is pretty upsetting.
Has anyone successfully pushed back on something like this with Lufthansa? Any tips on who to escalate to or how to get them to honor the original rebooking?
