Just saw this update from Lufthansa Group and it’s kind of wild. Starting January 15, 2026, you won’t be allowed to use or charge power banks onboard at all. You can still bring them, but only up to two, carry on only, and they have to stay in your seat pocket, on you, or under the seat. No overhead bins.
Anything between 100 and 160 Wh needs airline approval, and medical devices are exempt.
I get the safety angle with lithium batteries, but not being able to use or charge a power bank on a long haul flight feels rough, especially when some seats still have unreliable power. Curious if other airlines will follow or if this stays mostly a Lufthansa Group thing.
Anyone else think this is going to catch a lot of people off guard?
