Visiting DC this week and took the Vermonter up to Philly to see a friend, and honestly it reminded me how good people on the NEC have it. You can just hop on a train and get anywhere between DC and NYC without driving or dealing with airports. Spacious seats, WiFi, a cafe car… I’ve been working all morning in total calm instead of hearing horns and traffic.
The speed blows my mind too. Two hours from Union Station to Philly. No way I could do that faster or more comfortably by car or plane. And 110 bucks roundtrip booked last minute feels like a steal.
Makes me wish Front Range Passenger Rail would hurry up back home. I’d love to get to Fort Collins or Colorado Springs without touching a car.
Amtrak has its flaws, but man, the NEC setup is something to appreciate.
