We were on a Delta flight from JFK to Amsterdam on April 7 and sat next to a woman in her 70s traveling with a friend on a “Tulip Tour.” She was very excited as it was her first trip to Europe.
During the flight, she realized she had lost her phone and passport. We helped search and eventually found the phone, and the crew also assisted. After landing, there was an announcement calling her to the front, and it turned out her passport had been found—but it had been left behind in JFK.
We were then told she could not enter Amsterdam and would need to fly back to New York to retrieve it and then return again.
We had to disembark and that’s the last we saw of her.
Now I keep wondering what actually happened to her afterward:
Did she fly back to JFK and return to Amsterdam within a day or two?
Did insurance cover the extra flights?
Did she abandon the trip and go home instead?
Did her travel companion continue the tour without her?
I can’t stop thinking about how it ended and would love to know if anyone has heard a similar situation or knows what likely happened next.
