After two decades of vacationing at Mission Beach, one Arizona couple says they're done. The reason? A new $2,260 Transient Occupancy Tax tacked onto their $20,000 beach rental. That’s a serious jump, and they’re not alone in feeling the squeeze. They argue that this tax is meant to cover basic city services already paid through other municipal taxes so, why double-dip from out-of-towners?
I get that cities need revenue, but this kind of sticker shock could easily turn loyal vacationers away. We've stayed in San Diego plenty and love it, but with rising fees on everything from rentals to parking, it’s fair to ask when enough is enough. Anyone else reconsidering beach destinations because of hidden or rising costs like this?
