I recently flew from LHR to LAX and upgraded from Premium Economy to Business Suite Preferred on the Flagship 787-9.
It was an 8:30am departure, so I am wondering if that influenced the upgrade pricing. I make this trip fairly often and usually upgrade to Business, but this was my first time doing it with American Airlines.
The experience itself was very good. The crew was friendly and I really liked the mid flight snack bar setup. I also ended up in seat 1A after the upgrade, which made it feel like a great deal overall.
I am guessing a $600 upgrade for this route and cabin is not common, so I am trying to understand if I just got lucky or if this is something that sometimes happens on this route.
