LHR to HKG… is this the normal route?

Looking at the flight path for LHR to Hong Kong and it seems lower than I expected. I always thought it would route further north, maybe over Kazakhstan.

Is the southern routing normal these days? Just feeling a bit anxious seeing the map and wanted to check if this is typical for Cathay on this route.
