I travel internationally quite frequently for work, with occasional personal trips when time allows, including regular travel to India each quarter. Since United paused its nonstop service to Dubai, I have started routing via Lufthansa with a connection in Frankfurt.
On my most recent trip, I was unexpectedly upgraded to First Class at the gate. I was seated in 1K and it was a great experience, offering a very premium feel that was close to a private jet experience on a commercial flight. The service was excellent and the bedding and sleep setup were comparable to Emirates.
I am hoping to continue getting similar upgrade opportunities on future flights.
