I learned something new while traveling on a business class itinerary booked through United.
I purchased a business class ticket from Newark to New Delhi via Toronto on United's website. The itinerary included a short United segment followed by a long-haul flight that was actually operated by Air Canada under a codeshare arrangement.
Because the reservation was booked through United and included a business class long-haul segment, I assumed I would have access to the United Polaris Lounge at Newark. However, I was surprised to find out that Polaris Lounge access was not included because the long-haul flight was operated by Air Canada rather than United.
It was an unexpected lesson about how lounge access rules can differ based on the operating carrier, even when the ticket is purchased through United.
