Las Vegas Faces Drop in Tourist Numbers as Resort Fees and Value Concerns Drive Visitors Away

Las Vegas just saw a 7.3% drop in tourist arrivals for the first half of 2025, and the reasons are hitting close to home for many of us. High resort fees, poor service, and a perception of declining value are turning people away not just international tourists but Americans too.

Canadians in particular are staying away in huge numbers due to political tensions and the weak Canadian dollar. Cities like Buffalo, Bellingham, and Northern Vermont are seeing their cross-border visitor numbers plummet.

I’ve always loved Vegas for its excitement, but when a $30 resort fee gets you nothing useful and the buffet costs more than dinner in New York, it feels like the sparkle is gone. Anyone else changing plans this year? Are you skipping Vegas, or do the shows and casinos still draw you in?
