Flew Airlink in South Africa yesterday… one hour on an Embraer 135. No status, nothing. Checked four bags for free and they still did a full meal with multiple choices. One flight attendant handled the whole thing. All in economy.
Then I think about Delta Connection and just laugh. Here we get 20 different fare types, bag fees for almost everyone, barely any food even up front, and upgrades that feel impossible. “Full service” here basically means… what? A phone line? A lounge you pay extra for?
That Airlink hop honestly reminded me of how flying used to feel 10–20 years ago. Now it’s higher prices for way less. Consolidation hits hard.
