Kimpton Ashbel walked us and never made it right

Booked a 3 night points stay at the Kimpton Ashbel for a Jan 11 check in. On Jan 6 I get an email from the property saying renovations weren’t done and that their relocation team would contact us to handle alternative accommodations. They explicitly said no action needed from us.


Well, no one ever reached out. Calls to the property went unanswered. Even IHG couldn’t get them on the phone.


IHG eventually booked us into the InterContinental Barclay, but it required 178k more points. I didn’t want to eat that cost, especially since this was a walk, but with travel two days away I agreed after IHG covered half the points and said they’d chase the Kimpton for the rest.


After the trip, IHG told me the case was closed because the Kimpton Ashbel claimed they had resolved it with me. That never happened. The only contact I ever had from the property was the original Jan 6 email.


IHG says they’re escalating again, but I’ve still never heard a word from the Kimpton. I’m out 89k points right now, and at this point it’s about principle as much as the points.
