We were actually in that area just last week, staying near Covington and thinking about launching our own kayaks from somewhere around Duvall Landing. The Mississippi is beautiful out there, but it’s no joke currents can change on you fast, and there’s not much margin for error. Hearing about this guy getting separated from his kayak made my stomach drop.
Really glad to hear he’s okay and that fire/rescue got to him in time. Definitely a reminder to always wear your PFD and let someone know where you’re going. Anyone else paddle that stretch of river recently?
