Just Got the Travel Warning, Think Twice About Mexico

I was planning a trip to Mexico this fall, but I just saw the U.S. State Department’s updated travel advisory and it's making me seriously reconsider. They’ve issued a Level 4 Do Not Travel warning for six states Colima, Guerrero, Michoacan, Sinaloa, Tamaulipas, and Zacatecas due to crime, terrorism, and kidnapping.

Even places like Jalisco and Baja California are listed under Reconsider Travel, and I had Jalisco on my list for the tequila tour and beach days. I know every country has safer regions, but this is a bit unnerving.

Anyone recently been to Mexico? Did you feel safe? Would love to hear if you stuck to Level 1 or 2 zones like Yucatán or Mexico City or if I should just hit pause on this trip altogether.
