I just got off a ZIPAIR flight from Los Angeles (LAX) to Tokyo Narita (NRT) and wanted to share my experience.
My family and I are all U.S. citizens, and we were able to complete online check-in the night before departure without any issues. Since we were traveling with carry-on bags only, we went straight through TSA PreCheck and skipped the check-in counter entirely.
We arrived at the gate expecting our bags to be weighed or tagged, but nobody checked them. We did need paper boarding passes, and when I asked about the bag check process, the gate agent told me it wasn’t necessary.
The lie-flat seats were very comfortable and arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration. Personally, I found them more comfortable than the older 2-2-2 business class seats I’ve flown on JAL.
We preordered two meals. The beef option was quite good, while the chicken was decent for airline food. My husband also ordered the soba cup noodles and enjoyed them.
The cabin crew was friendly and attentive throughout the flight, and overall the journey was comfortable from start to finish.
This was our fourth trip to Japan. On previous trips, we flew business class using airline miles. While traditional business class offers additional perks, I’ve always felt the seat is the most important part of the experience, and ZIPAIR’s lie-flat product compared very favorably to the business class products I’ve flown before.
Overall, I had a very positive experience and would definitely consider flying ZIPAIR again.
