Just explored Elkhorn city, KY, a hidden gem for outdoor junkies!

If you’re into rugged scenery, river thrills, and small-town charm, Elkhorn City is a must. I visited this summer and totally get why it’s called the Gateway to the Breaks. The Russell Fork River is no joke, world-class rapids if you're into white water rafting, plus awesome fishing if you're more chill. I stuck to kayaking and creekside hikes, but watching the experts ride those Class V rapids during the White Water Festival was next-level.

Breaks Interstate Park is right nearby and seriously underrated. Giant canyon views, rock climbing, and Pine Mountain trails that connect to the Great Eastern Trail? Wild. Just a heads-up though getting there is a haul. Closest big airport is hours away, so pack snacks and a solid playlist. Anyone else hiked or paddled in this area? Thinking of going back in the fall for the foliage!
