This would have made my blood boil.
They canceled the return NY to LA because of the snowstorm, couldn’t rebook, so you had to book another airline yourself. Then they come back and say that leg was only worth $150 and 1,500 points? On a school holiday Sunday? Yeah okay.
No way a cross country flight for three people was basically $200 total. That math just doesn’t pass the smell test.
Good on you for pushing back and mentioning the DOT. Funny how after “checking the details” they suddenly found a mistake and refunded $914 instead. Amazing how that works.
Feels like if you don’t challenge it, you’re stuck with whatever number they throw at you.
