I’ve noticed that many hotels in Japan provide very thin, low-quality (1-ply) toilet paper that feels quite rough, almost like sandpaper. This seems surprising, especially since most toilets are equipped with bidets, which are excellent.
Even so, drying is still necessary, so I’m wondering why hotels tend to use such coarse toilet paper instead of higher-quality options.
Is it possible to buy thicker, softer toilet paper (such as 3-ply) in Japan, and if so, where can it be found?
