Wanted to share this in case it saves someone time.
Took me two full days to cancel a Japan Airlines booking.
Website just kept looping when I tried to cancel. Chat always said “all agents are busy” no matter the time. No clear escalation option either.
Big warning: when you Google their phone number, a bunch of third party sites show up. Don’t call those. Only use the number listed on the official JAL website. Otherwise you might reach an agency that charges you.
Once I finally got through to the real JAL number, the agent was polite and cancelled it without drama. But they said it can take up to 7 days to receive official proof of cancellation. That part surprised me since most airlines send confirmation immediately.
What’s funny is I flew them last year and the onboard service was fantastic. No issues at all in the air.
Just feels like their digital/customer service side is way behind their inflight product.
If you need to cancel, skip chat and call the official number directly.
