This isn’t about Turkish Airlines. It’s about the airport in Istanbul.
I flew in from Colorado with a broken leg. Crutches. Boot on my leg. I had disability assistance arranged through three airports with no issues.
In Istanbul, they straight up did not believe me. They demanded paperwork from my doctor. I ended up showing them photos on my phone of my X-ray and my leg swollen from weeks earlier just to prove it was broken.
At the gate, a staff member told me she had been watching me walk around all day. I hadn’t. I sat in a chair for about four hours, other than crutching to the restroom.
What really got to me was watching disability staff treat people in worse condition than me with zero empathy or respect.
Absolutely shameful behavior from the airport.
