We’re planning to fly from Los Angeles to London later this year on a British Airways A380 for a family event, and we’ll be traveling with a 22-month-old.
Currently, we have three seats booked in Economy (together in one row), but we’re debating whether upgrading is worth it. Premium Economy would increase the total cost significantly (around $10k for all three of us), while Business Class is even more expensive and raises practical concerns about seating arrangements with a toddler.
A few considerations:
Staying in Economy keeps us together in a 3-seat row, which feels more manageable with a toddler
Premium Economy would move us into a different seat configuration (2-4-2), potentially separating us or putting us in the middle section
One traveler is tall (6’3”) and concerned about comfort on a long-haul flight
We’re also thinking about whether buying an extra seat in Economy might be a better alternative
We’re trying to figure out:
Is Premium Economy on this route worth the significant price jump?
Are there better seat strategies in Economy for taller passengers?
Any practical tips for managing a long-haul flight with a ~2-year-old, especially overnight segments?
Would appreciate insights from anyone who has flown this route or traveled long-haul with a toddler.
