Is Turkish Airlines actually good or is there a catch?

Planning a summer trip to Italy and Greece from the US and Turkish Airlines keeps popping up way cheaper than everyone else. Like $600 when others are $1k+. That gap feels suspicious.

Google says they’re not a budget airline and are more on par with American or British Airways, which just adds to the confusion. Seats don’t look unusually tight, food seems decent, and they don’t seem to nickel and dime like true low-cost carriers.

So what’s the deal? Is it just their Istanbul hub and pricing strategy, or am I missing something obvious?
