I recently purchased an airfare and, about 30 hours later, checked the same route again and noticed the price had dropped significantly. The difference is roughly $2,300.
I contacted the airline’s customer service, but they were unable to offer any refund, credit, or adjustment based on the price change.
This has left me wondering whether there is any actual upside to having paid the higher fare, beyond simply locking in the booking and learning an expensive lesson about timing and price fluctuations.
Are there any situations where a higher fare purchase provides benefits that might not be immediately obvious, or is it generally just a case of accepting the loss once the ticket is issued?
