What is the real value of the complimentary 35,000-point annual free night benefit if it is rarely enough to book decent hotels?
I tried to use my annual free night and found that a hotel costing around $250 per night requires about 81,000 points. That feels like a very poor value for points redemption, and it is frustrating because I was expecting to finally use the benefit.
At this point I am questioning whether keeping the card is worthwhile, since it feels difficult to get meaningful value from the points system.
