Is the 300 THC credit even worth it?

Trying to book a two night stay and Amex Travel is almost 300 more than the hotel site. You do get the 100 and breakfast, but the price jump kind of kills it.

Is this just how it always is with THC and FHR? Curious if others see the same thing.
