I recently turned 62, which means I now qualify for the “Senior Discount” rate at Marriott International. I travel frequently for work and usually compare multiple pricing options like the lowest regular rate, AAA or CAA rates, and occasional package deals at individual properties.
Since becoming eligible, I have started including the Senior Discount in my searches across many hotels. However, after checking dozens of properties, I have not found a single case where the Senior Discount was actually cheaper. In most cases, it is either the same price or noticeably higher than the standard lowest rate.
AAA rates can vary and sometimes offer savings, but the Senior Discount consistently fails to provide any real benefit. It raises the question of whether this rate is genuinely meant to offer value or if it relies on assumptions that customers will not compare prices closely.
Has anyone else noticed this pattern?
