My family has a flight back to the US departing from CDG this week, and we are planning to leave our hotel near the Louvre at 5:15am. Our flight is scheduled for 9am.
We also need to complete the tax refund process before going through security, and I’ve heard there may also be a passport check at departure, although I don’t fully remember how it worked from previous trips.
I’m wondering if leaving at 5:15am gives us enough time to handle everything at CDG, especially the tax refund procedure.
Update:
Thanks for all the advice. The timing turned out to be more than enough. Here’s how the morning actually went:
5:10am: Uber pickup from Airbnb
5:35am: Arrived at Terminal 2E
5:40am: Waited for tax refund kiosk to open (we were first in line)
6:07am: Staff arrived and kiosks opened
6:15am: Completed tax refund scanning successfully
6:30am: Checked in luggage after printing bag tags at kiosk
6:38am: Passed passport control with no wait
6:45am: Took train toward gate
6:51am: Reached security
7:05am: Cleared security
7:10am: Relaxed at Starbucks
We ended up with plenty of time before boarding, which made the airport experience much less stressful.
