I’m planning a backpacking trip around Southeast Asia for about 6 months and trying to figure out if it’s worth getting a motorcycle license before I go.
Right now I have AM and B licenses (Sweden). In a lot of places like Thailand or Vietnam people rent scooters everywhere, so I’d definitely like the option to ride in some areas.
The thing is, getting the full A license before I leave would be pretty inconvenient with timing and cost, so if it’s not really necessary I’d rather skip it.
For those who’ve traveled around the region, is it actually worth having the proper motorcycle license? Or do most travelers just rent scooters with their regular car license?
Also curious how strict things are with police checks or insurance if something happens.
