This might be a slightly unusual question.
My best friend is currently on a long-distance trip and has a 6-hour layover at Heathrow Airport. I live about 2 hours away by flight within Europe.
Situation:
I am wondering if it would be possible for me to meet him inside the airport (after security), either:
Upon his arrival during his layover, or
When I depart from Heathrow myself
My confusion:
I am not sure how Heathrow’s airside zones work, especially regarding:
EU vs non-EU passenger separation
Whether transit passengers remain in a restricted area
Whether different terminals are connected airside in a way that allows this kind of meeting
Is there any realistic way for passengers in transit and departing passengers to meet airside at Heathrow, or would we need to meet before security in the public area instead?
Any clarification on how this works in practice would be really helpful.
