I know the idea of “value for money” is very personal, but I recently had a conversation with a friend who was genuinely disappointed because his upcoming Emirates flight only had Business Class available and no First Class seats.
That got me thinking because, personally, I’ve always felt completely satisfied flying Business Class and never seriously considered paying extra for First.
For me, Business Class already removes almost everything I dislike about Economy:
Better seats
More comfort and privacy
Lounge access
Better food and service
A much smoother airport experience overall
And since I usually travel with family, the cost difference between Business and First becomes enormous once multiplied across multiple tickets.
From the outside looking in, First Class seems to mostly add:
Caviar and premium champagne
More privacy
Shower access on some aircraft
A fully enclosed suite
But I struggle to understand how those extras justify such a massive jump in price.
So I’m curious:
Is there something about First Class that you only truly understand after experiencing it?
Does the overall experience feel dramatically different from Business?
Or is it more about luxury and exclusivity than practical comfort?
I’m actually flying to Bangkok next week and briefly considered surprising my family with an upgrade, so I’d love to hear opinions from people who’ve experienced both cabins.
