I used to lean hard on those AA international upgrades where you could call in, drop some miles and a fee, and grab a business seat if it was open. Looking at the new setup, it really feels like you basically need 175k loyalty points or million miler status to have any shot now.
Kind of kills the one perk that kept me sticking with AA and putting spend on their card.
