I travel inter-island in Hawaii fairly regularly (around 1–2 times per month), mainly between Kona and Oahu.
Recently I’ve noticed a significant increase in fares. For example, I’m seeing “low fare alert” pricing around $260 for a short 30-minute flight to Honolulu, which feels quite high compared to past years.
What stands out even more is how this compares to longer mainland routes, where flights to places like Los Angeles can sometimes be only about twice the price for a much longer journey.
It seems like prices have been steadily increasing over the past few years, and I’m wondering if others are noticing the same trend in inter-island travel costs, especially after the recent airline consolidation.
Would be interested to hear if this is just normal seasonal fluctuation or a longer-term pricing shift.
