Indigo Cayman feels very different this year

Still here now. Diamond elite with a lot of IHG stays, have been to both Indigo and Seafire before. Stayed at Indigo last year during its first festive season and it was busy but manageable. This year is a totally different vibe.

By 7:45am there are no pool chairs left. Cruise passengers take up a huge chunk of the beach chairs at Bonny Moon all day, which I get since there are no private beaches. On top of that, people are reserving chairs and disappearing for an hour or two. Staff tries to manage it, but it’s rough.

There are way more large groups this year. Families of five or six reserving chairs for everyone at once. I saw people come down around 9am, excited for the pool, only to be told there’s a waitlist. We all know no one is actually leaving.

I’m at the beach right now and watched a guy who reserved four pool chairs earlier, then came straight here. Before 8am, most of the first three rows of beach chairs were already taken too.

Last year we had an oceanfront room on points. This year it’s a neighborhood view, which is fine, but the traffic noise makes the balcony pretty unusable unless you enjoy loud motorcycles.

Not trying to sound entitled. Just sharing for anyone planning a trip. Compared to last year, this feels like a very different experience. I mostly feel bad for the staff who are dealing with understandably frustrated guests with nowhere to sit.

Happy new year.
