I am wondering about IndiGo’s future long haul strategy, especially regarding the Airbus A350-900 aircraft they are expected to receive around 2027.
Current assumptions:
If IndiGo introduces the A350-900, it may include a new business class product
There is speculation that it could feature lie-flat seats
Some people expect a hybrid long haul model similar to Finnair or JetBlue
IndiGo’s “Stretch” product on leased 787-9 aircraft has reportedly received good feedback
Broader thought:
If this direction is correct, IndiGo could potentially position itself more directly against Middle Eastern carriers (the “ME3”) on long haul routes by improving comfort while maintaining a low cost structure.
Question:
What are your thoughts on IndiGo moving toward a hybrid long haul model with the A350-900?
Do you think they will realistically introduce lie-flat business class, or will they keep a more minimal premium product even on widebody aircraft?
