Incheon becoming a key gateway for Alaska? Interesting strategy

Saw this Korea Times piece quoting Alaska directly and it’s pretty clear they’re serious about ICN.

They’re framing Incheon not just as a Korea route, but as a broader gateway to Southeast Asia and even China via connections. That’s ambitious for Alaska.

The onboard touches are kind of interesting too. Korean dishes like bulgogi and tteokbokki on one hand, then West Coast brands like Salt & Straw and Stumptown on the other. Feels very on brand for them trying to blend Pacific Northwest identity with Korean influence.

It does read a bit like a puff piece, but the quotes make it clear ICN is a strategic focus.

Curious how much they can realistically compete across the Pacific long term.
