Just finished an 8-day trip to Morocco and the experience was really positive.
Before the trip there were a lot of posts that made the destination sound intimidating, but visiting Marrakech and Essaouira ended up being enjoyable. Marrakech had a busy and energetic atmosphere that felt manageable for a couple of days of sightseeing, while Essaouira was calmer with great beach views, good food, and a relaxed vibe.
Activities included visiting a hammam, walking along the beach, shopping in the souks, and enjoying live music.
People were generally kind, although there can be some street vendors calling out or being persistent. Being comfortable saying no, staying aware, and sticking to safe areas made things manageable. There were also many friendly conversations and helpful tips from locals.
For a traveler in their early 20s staying in hostels and traveling on a budget, it turned out to be one of the favorite trips so far, with plans to return and explore more of the country.
