Anyone else catch the news about the Illinois Tollway exploring dynamic pricing? Basically, tolls could go up during rush hour and drop during quiet times. It’s part of their new 20-year plan and meant to help keep traffic flowing better. I’ve seen this work in cities like London and Stockholm where it also improved air quality but I’m curious how Chicago drivers will take it.
Personally, I like the idea of having cheaper tolls when I drive off-peak. But I can imagine the frustration for those who don’t have flexible schedules. Anyone here lived in a place with dynamic tolls before? Did it actually ease traffic or just feel like another way to drain your wallet?
