I know Spirit gets dunked on nonstop, but honestly if they ever go under it’s going to hurt regular travelers way more than people realize.
I’ve seen so many routes where Spirit is like $49 one way and suddenly every other airline magically prices at $99 just to compete. Take Spirit out of the picture and those same flights jump to $400 or $500. The west coast already feels like proof of that.
Not everyone needs legroom and champagne. Some of us just need to get from A to B without blowing a paycheck. I genuinely don’t think I could afford to fly as often without Spirit keeping prices in check.
