If I spend $12k on one ticket, do I jump straight to Platinum?

Trying to understand how this actually works.

If I book a flight that’s $12,000 before taxes, would that automatically push me past Gold and into Platinum since Gold is at $8,000?

Or do I only earn at the base 5x rate for the whole ticket because I don’t have status yet, and the higher earning rates wouldn’t kick in until after the flight posts?

Basically wondering if one big spend can leapfrog tiers, or if status only helps on future flights.
