We (family of 4) will be traveling from Rome to Paris in the summer as part of a larger trip, and we are exploring ways to make the journey itself part of the experience.
Originally we considered flying direct, but now we have 1–3 days available and are thinking about breaking the trip with stops along the way instead of going straight through.
We are not very keen on driving the entire route ourselves, but we are open to:
High-speed train routes
Bus or coach options
Possibly a short self-drive section if it makes sense
Or a mix of transport modes with 1–2 stopovers
We already have activities planned for both Rome and Paris, so this is mainly about making the travel between the two cities more interesting rather than just a transfer.
Looking for practical ideas or recommended routes that work well for a family.
