My parents are visiting us in London and are flying back to Madrid tomorrow on Iberia. They’re Spanish, passports valid until 2029, everything was fine on the inbound.
Tried to check them in online and Iberia kept saying their passport expiry dates weren’t valid. Couldn’t select seats either, and the flight now shows unavailable, so I wasn’t sure if it was overbooking or just a system bug.
We ended up getting the boarding passes by entering their Spanish national IDs under “additional documents,” but we’re still planning to go early to the desk to be safe.
Anyone know why Iberia’s system behaves like this?
