I’m flying tomorrow with Iberia (operated by Air Nostrum) and already completed check-in. During the process, I received a notice that the flight is expected to be full and that, as a boarding group 3 passenger, I should confirm that I will check in my hand luggage beforehand.
I understand the reason is likely limited overhead bin space, but I’m unable to check my bag in early because there are no trains that would get me to the airport earlier in the morning.
My question is: what typically happens if I still bring my hand luggage to the gate instead of checking it in? Will they require me to gate-check it, deny it at boarding, or allow me to carry it on anyway? I’m trying to understand what to expect in this situation based on others’ experiences.
