I was on Ryanair flight FR2584 from Gran Canaria to Manchester on 24 March 2026, which arrived more than three hours late.
Ryanair initially rejected my EU261 compensation claim, citing extraordinary circumstances. I escalated the case through AviationADR.
In their defence, Ryanair cited issues such as windshear and aircraft damage. However, the adjudicator found that they did not provide sufficient evidence, including an engineer’s report linking the damage to windshear or adequate proof regarding the replacement aircraft issue. It was also not demonstrated that all reasonable measures had been taken to avoid the disruption.
As a result, my claim was upheld and I was awarded £350 per passenger.
I am sharing this in case anyone else on the same flight accepted the initial rejection, as it may be worth reconsidering if still within the allowed time limits.
