This is going to trigger people but I kind of get your point.
A few years ago Bali felt like insane value. Cheap villas, solid wifi, huge community. Now $1,400 a month for Canggu with 50 Mbps and mid level safety doesn’t exactly scream bargain.
When you put it next to Chiang Mai at $900 with better internet and higher safety, or Tbilisi with a 365 day visa and basically no bureaucracy, it’s harder to justify the Bali premium purely on numbers.
That said, spreadsheets don’t capture everything. Bali’s appeal has always been lifestyle. Surf, gyms, cafes, networking, dating pool, content creator energy. Some people are paying for the vibe more than the stats.
But yeah, if someone is optimizing strictly for cost, visa ease and infrastructure, Bali doesn’t look like the obvious winner anymore.
