I do not really enjoy solo trips only because of freedom or typical “self-discovery” reasons. A big part of why I prefer traveling alone is honestly because I am quite “selfish” in the sense that I do not want the responsibility of coordinating or taking care of other people.
When I travel with friends, I usually end up managing everything like navigation, handling payments, and choosing where to eat. It feels like I am constantly compromising or being in charge of the group dynamic, which gets exhausting.
When I travel alone, I actually appreciate that everything is on me. If I make a mistake, like booking the wrong ferry or missing a train, it is fully my responsibility. I do not have to deal with anyone else’s expectations or blame, and I can just own the experience, including the mistakes.
