I feel morally obligated to warn you about Tunisia

I’ve been to a lot of places, and I’ve honestly never had a trip fall apart in so many different ways at once. Paid to enter a mosque in Kairouan, then got refused at the door for not being Muslim no refund, no sign, just a scam. Carthage was a mess, barely staffed, barely maintained. Shopkeepers boxed us in and got weirdly aggressive with my friend because they didn’t believe he was Canadian.

“First-class” train had broken windows, filthy seats, loose racks. Hotel canceled our non-refundable booking when we arrived and the room they tried to give us smelled like smoke and bugs. And then customs told you can’t leave with dinars, but once your passport is stamped they claim you’re “not in Tunisia anymore” and force you to empty your wallet anyway. When I tried to warn other tourists, the agents yelled at me.

Just sharing because I wish someone had given me this heads up.
